Leg breaker
The
Move had released five singles but by 1969 their career was flat lining.
The age-old remedy, change of management, was the considered option
and they signed to Don after leaving Tony Secunda (Don refers to Secunda
as another schmuck who won the lottery), and the trouble
was to start immediately. The band came across at the time of Goodbye
Blackberry Way. When Don got the band to sign on the dotted line and
with a hit in the offing, Secunda who had an ongoing drug problem
saw red. Arden alleges that Secunda was even trying to get him killed.
So I had him warned off, he says. Once it became clear
that if anything happened to me he would be dead himself within the
hour, he decided to see sense and never bothered us again. Elephants
memory Don was never in the forgiving business though and added, I
never stopped hating him though. I still hate him now even though
hes dead
He committed suicide in the end and I like to
think he did it because he finally realised what a bastard he was.` |
